Oxygen is essential for life and energy- without it we fade. A lack of oxygen (hypoxia) is sometimes unnoticeable but can have a profound effect on our feeling of wellbeing, alertness and cognitive functions. Low oxygen levels inhibit wound healing and proper organ function.
Treatment to increase oxygen levels include Hyperbaric chambers (HBOT) but most people are unaware of the benefits of exercising whilst breathing high concentrations of oxygen.
A large bag is filled with pure oxygen and the patient breathes this through a full face mask whilst exercising at a controlled level, following a warm up session. All that is needed is to increase the pulse rate and breathing rate to a comfortable level which means there is increased turbulence in the blood flow and the lungs. This allows for maximum exchange of oxygen into the system.
The body has a wonderful way to balance the carbon dioxide produced by exercise thus maintaining a balance (homeostasis). A session which lasts typically 20 minutes is all it takes during which time the oxygen levels of both red blood cells and importantly, the blood plasma are greatly increased. Oxygen rich blood is available throughout the entire body and the process of rejuvenation can begin. The plasma can penetrate tissues too small for the red blood cells to access such as the endothelium which lines the blood vessels. Improvements of some chronic conditions are often seen after just a few sessions. Amazingly, there is no sense of muscle burn after exercise as the oxygen neutralises any build-up of lactic acid. Exercise levels are matched to a patient’s condition by our practitioners who monitor the process throughout, so even people who are physically impaired will likely find a way to use this amazing therapy.
** The Health Hub offers EWOT primarily for therapeutic purposes but of course it is a wonderful way to improve athletic performance in a short timeframe. If you are interested in this aspect, please let us know. Call or Email for more information.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
EWOT is NOT Suitable during pregnancy, if the person has mobility/balance issues or a serious breathing condition. You maybe asked to provide a letter from you doctor.
