Physiotherapy is a science-based profession that takes a ‘whole person’ approach to health and wellbeing, which includes your general lifestyle. Physiotherapists help facilitate recovery for people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement, exercise, manual therapy, education and advice. It can help with a wide range of conditions such as back pain, headaches, tendon pain, running injuries, muscle and ligament strains, recovery from surgery and much more.
Diane’s approach may be quite different to what you’ve been used to. She views the body in a unique way – one which truly values and respects the interconnectedness of the whole body. Her practice is influenced by the work of Gary Ward’s Anatomy in Motion and more recently Upledger’s CranioSacral Therapy.
Her approach is thorough, and therefore more suited to those of you who value the nature of a process and do not expect a ‘quick fix’. Improvements are often felt right away, but this very much depends on each individual case.
AiM created by Gary Ward is a method unlike any other. It is a way of working with the human body based simply on:
It takes into account how upper body biomechanics can be influenced greatly by lower body biomechanics and vice versa. AiM helps us to understand anatomical relationships ALL throughout the body – e.g. between the toes + neck, foot + spine, wrist + pelvis etc.
AiM sets out to determine exactly what movements you are missing or struggling to access. Regardless of your symptoms, corrective movements will be used to re-educate your body in its movements (not your typical stretch it, strengthen it approach). This allows your body to reorganise itself and takes the pressure off the system that is causing pain.
CST is a gentle hands-on therapy, where the touch is subtle and non-invasive. However, don’t be fooled! It is a powerful treatment approach that helps to release restrictions deep within the body – specifically the CranioSacral system.
The CranioSacral system is a recently discovered physiological system, encompassing the bones of the skull and spine. Within the skull and spine are membranes containing fluid – all serving to protect your brain and spinal cord (i.e. your central nervous system). It is possible to evaluate and enhance the function of this system through CST.
Since Diane started integrating CST techniques with many of her clients, she’s been blown away by how something SO subtle can have such a deeply profound impact.
Time and time again, CST has proven to: frequently free up space in people’s bodies from head to toe, reduce pain, dramatically change people’s posture for the better, clear up sinus problems, improve breathing, enhance overall movement ease and quality, better sleep, improve appetite, lift mood, reveal a feeling of true wellness, reduces stiffness, improve mental clarity and awareness, even heighten connection to intuition. The potential is HUGE.
At your first appointment, you’ll be greeted by one of our team on reception and asked to complete a consultation in our bright and airy reception area.
Please come prepared with comfortable loose clothing which allows for a clear assessment of your presenting complaint – for example, consider bringing a pair of shorts for a lower body issue, or wearing a vest top for an upper body issue.
When it is time for your appointment, Diane will take you through to one of our private treatment rooms. Your appointment will last 60 minutes.
Your initial appointment is an opportunity for Diane to hear your story and gain an understanding of your symptoms, injury history, health status and lifestyle.
This will be followed by a physical assessment to: check your resting posture, observe how your body moves and test the integrity of your joints, nerves and muscles for example. If you are attending purely for CST, this physical assessment may be shorter.
Diane may also observe your gait (walking). Gait is a universal repetitive human movement that involves every single joint in your body, in all three dimensions of movement. Hence, it serves as a powerful assessment tool which can help us unearth the root of your problem.
Information gathered from the assessment will help begin the process of understanding what may be contributing to your symptoms. From there, Diane will guide you towards the most appropriate and time-efficient way to optimise how your body moves and feels.
Initial Appointment – £72
Follow-up Appointment – £67
